aSPECT3D
aSPECT3D from ArcTron is the first 3D program package to be tailored specifically to meet the requirements of the heritage field. It has been optimised for the needs of restorers, conservators, archaeologists and excavation technicians. aSPECT3D was especially developed to simplify the processing of the amorphous 3D surfaces and irregular structures which so often occur in architectural and art heritage and archaeology. Using aSPECT3D, three dimensional models can be quickly and easily structured, classified, divided into their constituent elements and prepared for scientific analysis or damage mapping. 3D models of statues can be processed just as easily as models of architectural facades, bas-reliefs or any other three dimensionally documented archaeological item. aSPECT3D features functions which have been optimised for deployment in the heritage field and which make it into a powerful tool for generating accurate, three-dimensional damage mapping. This creates a whole range of new possibilities for restorers, art historians and archaeologists as they can now work directly on and with the 3D object instead of having to process multiple 2D images. Using aSPECT3D, areas of damage can be marked directly on the three dimensional surface, classified according to the respective requirements, highlighted with colours and supplemented with individual attributes. These attributes can be filtered in any desired combination meaning that the user can study, for example, all the cracks on an object or specific architectural elements (e.g. capitals). External databases can also be easily incorporated which allows complex 3D mapping to be generated. ArcTron also provides specialist services and product developments for this field. We have more than 10 years of experience in the development and construction of CAD and database mapping solutions for archaeology. We develop project-specific, 3D mapping and monitoring systems which exactly describe the condition of an object. They are ideally suited to larger restoration or documentation projects such as that carried out on the Bavaria bronze in Munich. This documentation can then be consulted during current or future measures and used to record alterations in damage or to enter evaluations of completed restorative work. New observations can be added to the 3D model at any time which ensures that the digital three dimensional documentation of the object remains up-to-date. |
