This method considerably accelerates the progress of excavations, particularly those which involve the documentation of numerous graves and are running on a tight schedule. |

Photogrammetry can also be used to document buildings. The structure is first recorded photograpically, sector by sector, and the control points are surveyed using a total station. The individual images are then rectified in a central projection using 4 or more control points to place each picture, and then assembled into a two dimensional photographic plan.
This method was used to document the Loewenturm (Lion's Tower) in Munich. Over 200 individual photos were rectified and processed to produce a 3D model and an accurate, digital, stone-by-stone plan.
